School District No. 58 (Nicola-Similkameen) appoints Principal of Collettville Elementary School

The Board of Education of School Ditrict No. 58 (Nicola-Similkameen) is pleased to announce that Mr. Rene Aubin has been appointed as the Principal of Collettville Elementary School for the District effective August 1, 2015.

Ms. Bedard, the current Principal of Collettville Elementary has provided excellent educational leadership and will be missed. She has been an instrumental leader at the school and has provided outstanding leadership at the District level as well. The Board would like to thank Ms. Bedard for her commitment to Collettville Elementary for the past 15 years. We wish her all the best in her new position with the Central Okanagan School District.

Mr. Aubin is coming to Merritt from the Okanagan Skaha School District where he was a French Immersion teacher at KVR Middle School.

Mr. Aubin has taken on a range of leadership roles. His most recent experience as Teacher in Charge and Grade 8 Team Leader have provided him with opportunities to develop skills and attributes that will serve him well as the Principal of Collettville Elementary. Mr. Aubin’s focus on relationships, goal setting, enabling others and most importantly student success will provide a solid foundation for his work at Collettville Elementary.

Mr. Aubin also brings important French Immersion experience to the position. Mr. Aubin’s French Immersion teaching experience and French Specialization will maintain the strong French Language focus that is instrumental to a French Immersion school and will complement the great work already occurring at Collettville Elementary.

The Board is pleased with the outstanding qualities and experience of Mr. Aubin and is looking forward to working with him in his new role as Principal of Collettville Elementary School.
