MyEd Standards-Based Gradebook – Marvella Preston-Bain

September 19 @ 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Have you wondered how to use the MyEd Standards-Based gradebook to easily integrate marks with report cards and to communicate with students & parents through the MyEd portals? Join Marvella Preston-Bain, MyEdBC School District Liaison from the Ministry of Education, for an evening where you will learn about the new standards-based gradebook.  Marvella will demonstrate the power of the MyEd Standards-Based Gradebook tool and allow time for hands-on exploration.

The Standards-based Gradebook is useful for teachers who are using standards for assessing students in combination with traditional methods for reporting progress. With this new gradebook, all of the Standards are preloaded into the system and then learning tasks are assessed against standards rather than “marked”.  Teachers can work with proficiencies, standards and competencies and still provide a final letter grade for student reporting.  The Standards-Based Gradebook does the following:

  • Allows teachers to attach BC’s curricular competencies to learning tasks
  • Provides a comprehensive picture of student growth
  • Gives teachers a tool for planning instruction for the class and for individual students

This is a very exciting opportunity and the Ministry Liaison Marvella Preston-Bains will be offering the following two workshops for elementary teachers who are interested in trying it out. If you want to try this new gradebook out, you will need to attend one of the sessions. In order to get an accurate count of numbers for dinner, please sign up no later than Friday, September 13th, 2019.  The standards-based gradebook will be set up only for those who attend a workshop.

Time: Thursday, September 19th, 2019 from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Location:  Merritt SBO Large Boardroom
