Disaster Assistance for Families

November 18, 2021

Dear SD58 Families,

In follow up to my previous email asking you for information regarding the status of your displacement we would like to let you know that we have been working with Superintendents and their teams in our neighboring communities for the purpose of providing you and your family support. We understand that it may take us some time to gather detailed information on your status so in the meantime we are encouraging you to reach out to the following contacts for support (food, water, shelter, or connections):

Kamloops
Assistant Superintendent, Vessy Mochikas
250 374-0679
vmochikas@sd73.bc.ca

Kelowna
Assistant Superintendent, Alan Lalonde
250-860-8888
Wendy.Kennedy@sd23.bc.ca

Salmon Arm
Assistant Superintendent, Ryan Brennan
250 804-7841
rbrennan@sd83.bc.ca

Nicola-Similkameen
District Secretary, Heather Ouimet
604 866-5231
houimet@365.sd58.bc.ca

In addition to helping support basic needs it is also our goal to determine locations for our students and staff to meet. Filling out our survey and letting us know where you are located will help us with this process. We understand how challenging these times are and how difficult it is to be displaced. Please know that we are thinking of you and connect with us, or the contacts listed if you require support.

Sincerely

Stephen McNiven
Superintendent of Schools
